Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate?
Estimates are free — we come measure, show you styles and fabrics, and give you the exact price before anything is ordered.
How much is an awning?
It depends on the size, style, fabric, and whether it's motorized, so we measure and give you the exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
Do you do retractable / motorized awnings?
Yes — we install manual and motorized retractable awnings, and we can add wind and sun sensors so it retracts on its own in gusts. Let's set up a measure.
Can you recover / re-fabric my old awning?
Often yes — if the frame's still sound, recovering it with fresh fabric costs much less than a whole new awning. We'll take a look and give you the exact price.
My awning won't retract / is stuck
No problem — we repair awnings and motors. Let's get someone out to look at it and give you the exact price to get it working again.
Do you do commercial / storefront awnings?
Yes, we do commercial storefront awnings including lettering and logos, and we handle permitting where it's needed. Let's set up a consultation.
What fabric do you use / does it fade?
We use quality fade- and weather-resistant fabrics and can show you samples when we measure — we'll match the right fabric to your use and go over the warranty.
Will it hold up in wind / weather?
Wind is the main thing to plan for, which is why we anchor into solid structure and recommend wind sensors on motorized units — the consultant will go over what's best for your spot.
Does an awning help with cooling / sun?
Yes — a good awning cuts direct sun, keeps rooms and patios cooler, and reduces UV fading indoors. We'll help you place it for the best effect.
How long does installation take?
Awnings are usually made to order, and the install itself is often about a day — we'll give you a clear timeline along with the exact price.
What's your warranty?
Quality awnings come with a fabric warranty and separate motor coverage — we'll go over the exact warranty for what you choose.
Do you clean or maintain awnings?
Yes, we handle awning cleaning and maintenance too — just let us know and we'll take care of it.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your address and set up a free measure and quote.
Do you offer financing?
Good question — we sometimes have financing for larger projects; let me have the office confirm the current options and go over them with you.
⚠️ Safety first
- Awning damaged, hanging, or partially detached: Please keep everyone from underneath it and don't try to operate it — a loose awning can fall. We'll get someone out promptly to secure and assess it, and give you the exact price.
- Motorized awning stuck open in high wind: Please stay clear and don't stand under it in the wind — high gusts can damage an extended awning. If there's a manual override the office can walk you through it, otherwise we'll get a technician out.
- Caller wants to wire a motorized awning themselves: For the electrical connection on a motorized awning, that should be done by a licensed electrician — we handle or coordinate that so it's safe and to code.
- Awning frame pulling away from the wall: Thanks for catching that — if the mounting is pulling loose, please don't extend or load it, since wind can make it worse. We'll get out to look and give you the exact price to re-secure it.
Know the terms
- Retractable awning
- A lateral-arm awning that extends for shade and retracts against the wall when not needed.
- Motorized / motor
- A tubular motor (often Somfy) that opens and closes the awning by remote; can add wind/sun sensors.
- Recover
- Putting fresh fabric on a still-good frame — much cheaper than a whole new awning.
- Solution-dyed acrylic
- A premium awning fabric where the color runs through the fiber, so it resists fading (e.g., Sunbrella).
- Projection / pitch
- How far the awning reaches out and its angle, set so rain runs off instead of pooling.
